What If I Can't Imagine Not Sweating for 10 Days?

Especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve found comfort in the routine of working out. I’ve found it allows me to more easily forgive myself for the emotional eating I tend to do a little too often. If this is something you’re worried about, I get it. But why not take this opportunity to challenge your body in a new way?
Fasting has been practiced by religions and cultures throughout centuries. I’m not going to claim to be an expert on it, but there seem to be definite benefits to fasting if it’s done right. It promotes blood sugar control, fights inflammation, can improve heart health and brain function, and can boost your metabolism. I’m also not going to pretend like I myself can go a full day without eating anything. Along with the fasting mimicking diet, while staying away from the gym, now is a great time to practice your breathe work, take walks, and work on your flexibility. I know breathe work sounds kind of silly, but think of the intensity of child-birth. Yeah, there’s pretty much nothing more intense than bringing another human into the world (I wouldn’t personally know, and I’m very okay with that). And what do they have the mother do in order to help her through this ordeal/adventure? Breathe work. You’ll find that if you practice breathe work enough, you can more easily get through anxiety and more easily fall asleep. Once you’re back in the gym, you’ll find that in using your new skills, you can more easily push through those tough circuits.
Along with focusing more on yoga movements and breathe work, cold showers are shown to improve your health and focus. You’ll need to avoid the steamy showers while those brows heal anyways, so why not look at it as an opportunity to start your day focused rather than ten days you’ll miss those hot hot showers?
All in all, you see this time away from sweating doesn’t have to be time away from challenging your body. In fact, you can use the time to become extra ready to get back into the gym. You’ll be detoxed, lighter, calmer, and bendier. Oh, and stunning!
